Caravan Industry Association of Australia excitedly welcomes the establishment of the Parliamentary Friends of Caravanning and thanks the Chair Senator Helen Polley and Co-Chair Scott Buchholz MP for championing the industry’s voice in Canberra.

The Parliamentary Friends of Caravanning will support the travel and tourism industry, local manufacturers, and operators across the supply chain, many of which are small and micro businesses, allowing them to connect with parliamentarians about the value caravanning brings to the regions.

"The Parliamentary Friends will encourage travellers to explore destinations otherwise less accessible by other modes of transportation and recognise the wide-ranging benefits the caravan and motorhome industry brings to the regions,” Senator Polley said.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia CEO, Stuart Lamont, said: “the establishment of the group is again further recognition of the industry’s economic contribution, social and wellbeing offering and diversity of offering for the Australian tourism landscape.”

“While many policy makers regularly engage in caravanning (including everything from camping, motorhoming through to staying in cabins), the industry offers much more than simply a positive recreational activity - $27 billion of economic activity from local manufacturing, employment, sovereign supply chains, visitor economy spend, and regional dispersal.  The Australian caravanning industry offers best in class experiences globally, with innovative product offerings specifically targeting the unique ways in which the Australian travelling public likes to travel.”

“We look forward to working with the Parliamentary Friends group on further demonstrating the strengths and diverse offerings of the industry as well as continuing to build strong bi-partisan relationships in the Nation’s Capital,” said Stuart.
